We follow the school closure schedule for bad weather or other emergencies: if the schools are closed, we don't meet.

Senior Youth Group: Grades 8-12
Junior Youth Group: Grades 5-7

Let’s grow the group! Junior Youth Groupers: Bring a friend to a Wednesday meeting or event and get a bag of your favorite candy!

Jr. & Sr. Youth Group Wednesday Meetings in January: 3, 10 (half-day: doors open at 3pm), 17, 24 and 31.

Jr. Youth Group meets from 3:30-4:30pm.

Dinner is from 5:30-6:15pm.

Sr. Youth Group meets from 6:15-7:15pm..

Our doors are open right after school is out so you can be here with friends to talk, do homework, play games, chill… Remember, though, on school half-days our doors open at 3pm.

  • Backwards Dinner Party, Monday, January 15, 9:30-11:30am (yes, in the morning!) in the fellowship hall.  Wear what your can of your clothes backwards!  Friends welcome!  Cost: $5 per person.

  • Come on it…. The water’s fine...because it’s heated!  Lets go swimming on Saturday, January 27 from 3-5pm.  Meet at the pool..  Bring $ for admission.  I’ll bring the after-swimming snacks.  Friends welcome!

  • Small Group (for Sr. Youth Groupers).  Join us on Monday afternoons at 3:30 in the youth room for casual, but at least somewhat centered, conversation on the question: “How is your soul?”

  • Take a break (not that you haven’t had enough so far this school year!)... Pilgrim Firs Mid-Winter Retreat for youth in 7th through 12th grades, Friday, January 12, 7pm through Sunday, January 14, 10am.  Meet teens from other area UCC churches, play, worship, dance, groove on nature… For more information, speak to me, or go to the Pilgrim Firs web site: www.pilgrimfirs.org

EHCC Youth Groups get together for a regular weekly meeting and periodically for special events. When we’re together we:

  • Have Fun: We have movie nights, go on field trips, celebrate festive occasions together...
  • Explore: We discuss all sorts of aspects of faith and Christianity (and other religions!) including how faith/religion affects our lives. We ask lots of questions; we don’t have all the answers.
  • Do Service: We help out at church and in the community: from church projects to befriending the elderly and shut-ins to volunteering with Helpline House and the Streets of Seattle...we care about the needs of others!
  • Worship: We pray and praise together. And we prepare an annual Youth Sunday worship service.
  • Go on a Mission Trip: Every year those of us in the Senior Youth Group participate in a mission trip specifically geared to helping a community in need. This is a highlight of the year!

Wednesday Programs:
after school until 7:30pm

On Wednesdays during the school year, our doors are wide open (figuratively speaking) as soon as school is out so youth can gather with friends, do homework, or play games and do crafts. (On half days, EHCC is open to youth at 3:00pm; youth need be home or involved with other activities until then.)

After that, our Junior Youth Group meets from 3:30 to 4:30pm; dinner is from 5:30 to 6:15pm (youth help clean up); and our Senior Youth Group meets from 6:15 to 7:15pm. Junior youth groupers can hang out at church—doing quiet activities—until 7:30pm.

Both Youth Group meetings are structured to provide a safe and stimulating environment to explore ideas about faith and how we believe and act accordingly. We are an open-minded group and welcome a variety of viewpoints. You are always encouraged to bring friends to our Wednesday meetings; you don’t have to attend EHCC (though we bet you’d like it if you did!) to be an occasional or regular participant in Youth Group. Join us!

Here at EHCC, we are of the philosophy that it takes an entire village to raise a child; and what a wonderful village we have! We gratefully encourage and accept the volunteer assistance of Wednesday evening cooks, guest meeting facilitators, field trip and mission trip chaperones, etc. Please talk to us about how you can be a part of our program!

EHCC underwrites much of the cost of the youth group program in its annual budget. However, families are asked to contribute to the cost of Wednesday evening dinners on a per week or per quarter basis And some activities may have an additional fee, such as ferry or event tickets and special meals. The annual mission trip is covered through a combination of Youth Group fund-raising and family contributions. Scholarship assistance is usually available upon request for any of the above mentioned situations.
