ReadMe file with System Requirements and Installation instructions for the CD Czar Music Collection Manager ======= Requirements Windows 95/NT4.x or better At least 32MB RAM. 5 MB of available hard-disk space required. Monitor with display resolution of at least 800x600. Mouse or other pointing device. In order to switch to HTTP protocol (if you are behind a firewall) you must have Internet Explorer (IE) Version 5.0 or later installed with any proxy information entered: (Tools|Internet Options|Connections|LAN Settings). If you install Winamp to play the songs and the "Winamp Setup: Settings" form appears, check (select) at least this option: Associate with files (at least m3u playlists) Also, having "Auto Insert Notification" enabled in Windows may conflict with the ability of CD Czar to play your Playlist or choice of starting track. To disable this "autoplay", with the Windows Start menu do: Start | Settings | Control Panel | System | Device Manager | CD-ROM (expand)| Properties | Settings, and then uncheck Auto Insert Notification. ======= Installation To install, simply Run the installation program you have downloaded onto your hard disk (Start|Run). You can download a free utility & documentation (ini2czar) to import entries from the cdplayer.ini file that the Windows CD player and others use from http://groups.yahoo.com/group/CDCzar/files/ If the first time you run the program you get an error message "Socket Error #11001, Host Not Found" and you are sure you are connected properly, you may be behind an intranet firewall with port #8880 not open. If you cannot open this port, click on the "Options" button and select HTTP protocol. You should then be able to function normally. CD Czar uses Internet Explorers proxy etc. settings, so you must have IE Version 5.0 or later set up to operate correctly with your firewall. If you need to enter a user name and password on your intranet, check the "authentication required" box (if you don't know, try first with the box unchecked). If CD Czar does not recognize your CD-ROM drive, or freezes when you click on Add CD, go to the Troubleshooting section of help as described above. If you are using Windows 2000, XP or Vista and receive an error message when clicking on the Report button in the Report Writer or the Tracks Report button in the Tracks View, go here for an easy solution: http://www.zipcon.com/~highroad/CDCzar/CDhelp2.html#temp Especially if you have Windows 95, during installation you may get a notice that you need to install an ASPI driver. Don't be concerned, this is easy to do - just click on the "?" button for help, go to the Troubleshooting section and follow the appropriate instructions. The Trial version is fully functional with no time limit. but is limited to 25 albums in the database.
