Before tutoring begins, we conduct interviews with parents and teachers to determine the student's academic profile and other relevant factors. In some cases we administer a standardized test at no charge. If it appears that tutoring can improve the student's achievement, the family can then choose to enroll in the program.
INDIVIDUALIZED LESSON PLANS
For students with no significant skill deficiencies, we design a study skills program that enables students to organize and complete classroom assignments and projects on time. Special attention is given to classroom behaviors that promote success, assignment quality, and time management.
Students needing remediation are provided specific instruction and materials to supplement class work. Tutors carefully monitor each student's progress to achieve a balance between class assignments and remedial work. Students are periodically re-evaluated to gauge progress.
In both the study skills and remediation programs tutors and students write a study plan for the coming week, which parents are expected to monitor and which tutors check at the next session.
