The Recreated March,
26 June 2008.

The weekend's reenactment starts early.  On Wednesday evening, marchers will gather at Caledonia State Park. There, the marchers will prepare rations, drink water and bed down at a designated campsite. At first light, the march commences east on the Appalachian Trail parallel to the Chambersburg Pike. When the trail ends, the march proceeds on less traveled roads to the national battlefield park and then to the reenactment site.

The length of the march is seventeen miles. Several water stops are planned.

So what are you waiting for? If you are going to make the effort to participate At High Tide, you might as well maximize the experience by marching with the ad hocs, the only group planning an extensive march through historic grounds to the event.

There will be a nominal charge - ten dollars - to cover rations, water and other logistics. Money collected beyond costs will go towards preservation.

Participants are very much encouraged to commence getting in shape - NOW. This is a long march when the weather is expected to be hot and humid.  Marchers are encouraged to make regular marches before the event to shake down their traps and determine what is necessary and what is not.
